While with a previous firm, The Reese Group staff participated in the world’s largest PCB sediment remediation project, the Fox River Cleanup Project. Multiple paper companies were the source of the PCB contamination. As of 2014 remedial efforts have resulted in over 3.3 million cubic yards of sediment being dredged, 1.7 tons removed and disposed of at landfills, 5.2 billion gallons of water treated, and 446 acres of river bottom capped or sand covered. Our role in those remedial efforts included:
- Collecting and analyzing sediment cores to delineate extent of contamination
- Collecting bathometric survey GPS data
- Providing oversight on hydrographic surveys
- Collecting confirmation sand cap samples
